CGT maintains the indefinite strike in Egara ambulances to demand the reinstatement of those dismissed

The CGT union maintains the indefinite strike at the Ivemon Ambulàncies Egara company to demand the reinstatement of around fifty workers in Lleida, Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre dismissed in the last three months and to demand improvements in the service.

Three weeks after the start of the strike, on March 14, around twenty union representatives and workers gathered with banners in front of the Egara headquarters in Lleida to make their demands heard.

Trade unionist Eduard Segura has criticized the dozens of "massive layoffs", while the rest of the workers are "overloaded" with work and criticizes the company for prioritizing "gaining benefits at the expense of a public service."

The CGT denounces fifty layoffs in Egara in the last three months, since the company renewed the tender for urgent and non-urgent medical transport in Lleida, Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre.

Eduard Segura has explained, however, that the company has only admitted 12 dismissals and that, at most, it offers 6 new hires, far from the fifty reinstatements that the union demands.

The union criticizes that while the company justifies the dismissals due to "lack of work", workers must face an "overload" of work that translates into "uncontrolled" overtime and "very poor" service management with constant delays. In addition, they also denounce negligence in the maintenance and renewal of vehicles, which increases occupational risks for both workers and users.
