Catalonia in Common will be presented as Common Commons in 12-M

Catalunya en Comú will compete in the 12M elections as Comuns Sumar, with Jéssica Albiach as the headliner, which will not repeat the En Comú Podem brand after Podem Catalunya has decided not to run in the elections.

As the comuns revealed today in a statement, the name chosen for the formation will be Comuns Sumar, since both the formation of Ada Colau and that of Yolanda Díaz are "two sister spaces" that join forces "from diversity" to offer voters "a broader and more diverse political platform that can launch" the country model they want for Catalonia.

The rupture at the state level between Sumar and Podemos has finally led to a definitive estrangement between the commons and Podem also in Catalonia, which led Podem Catalunya to announce last Wednesday that it would not attend the May 12 elections so as not to contribute to "fragment the left."

In this way, after having shared a parliamentary group with Catalunya en Comú in the Parliament, under the brand of En Comú Podem, this coalition will not be repeated on 12M, when the commons, who have elected Jéssica Albiach as head of the poster, will They will present under the name Comuns Sumar.

According to the comuns, once the list is approved by the National Council of training, with 80% of votes in favor, they will present a candidacy committed "to the progress, dialogue, inclusion and diversity that Catalonia deserves."

In this sense, the comuns maintain that the 12M will be a plebiscite on the model of country that the Catalans want, where the priorities of the new Government must be the fight against drought and climate change, guaranteeing access to housing and protecting the health and public education.

Comuns Sumar will compete in the elections with the desire to weave a project of hope and renewal for Catalonia, with a more just, inclusive and prosperous society, according to the statement from this formation.

The new alliance between the Comuns and Sumar "sends a powerful message about the importance of building plurinational alliances in the name of the common interest and well-being of Catalan society as a whole," according to the note.
