Calella and Pineda once again demand improvements in the connection of the N-II with the highway

The mayors of Calella and Pineda de Mar, Marc Buch and Xavier Amor, have once again insisted on demanding that Territori improve the highway exit with the National Highway II. Both town councils have sent a joint letter to the Minister of Territory, Ester Capella, to urge her department to carry out improvements in the shortest possible time in the connection of this motorway exit with the road to reinforce road safety at this point.

The Calella City Council, together with the Pineda de Mar City Council, have once again written to the Department of Territory to address various problems and pending improvements related to the C-32 highway that gives access to both municipalities. On March 29, 2023, the two mayors already addressed Councilor Juli Fernández with a similar letter in which the same issues were presented.

Buch and Amor urge the Department of Territory to carry out in the shortest possible time the improvement of the link of this highway exit with the National Highway II to reinforce security at this entrance that regulates road traffic in both cities. Both councils consider it essential to improve the C-32 highway exit because it is a road with two lanes in each direction that registers a high level of accidents. In this sense, it is considered necessary that this section be illuminated and that road measures be implemented to reinforce its safety.

On the other hand, they also ask that the perimeter closures of the highway and its exit be reviewed to avoid accidents with game fauna. They demand these improvements to guarantee safe and adequate mobility in both urban centers that have a high degree of movement of visitors and tourists, especially in the summer season.

In addition, they also addressed the General Director of Transport and Mobility, Oriol Martori, to request a meeting to address the improvement of the public transport service between both municipalities, specifically, increasing the frequency of the Sagalés 691 bus line that connects Calella and Pineda de Mar. This line is vital for residents who depend on the service for their daily trips. The increase in frequency would significantly improve the quality of service and better satisfy the needs of users.

Calella and Pineda de Mar are municipalities that, in addition to being good neighbors, have multiple weaknesses, threats, strengths and opportunities in common.
