CaixaForum celebrates its first anniversary with 170,000 subscribers

CaixaForum celebrates its first anniversary with 170,000 subscribers

With only one year of existence, the CaixaForum online platform has managed to gather 170,000 subscribers attracted by the almost 200 titles that in this space of time have been published in the form of documentaries, series and podcasts with culture as the common thread of an offer that It has received more than 2.6 million visits between the website and the app, channels to which, starting today, the application for smart televisions is added.

Among the most viewed titles on the portal promoted by the La Caixa Foundation are the Booklovers series, starring the writer Jorge Carrión; Ravel's bolero, performed by the Liceu Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Josep Pons, or the film Van Gogh, two months and an eternity. The visual and plastic arts, as well as titles related to music, are the most consumed, together accounting for 50% of the views.

Throughout these twelve months, 188 titles have been released, of which 46% are original productions of the platform in all types of formats: series and feature-length documentaries, interviews, podcasts, short films, dialogues or concerts that add to the 1,500 content that the platform currently offers. This offer has been expanded thanks to collaborations with top-level national and international cultural institutions that have contributed their own material, such as the Prado Museum, the Guggenheim, the Fundació Joan Miró, the Gran Teatre del Liceu or the Montaña Alta, in addition to festivals such as In-Edit, dedicated to documentary film, or Moritz Feed Dog 2024, to which this year the Suncine Environmental Film Festival is added.

Most of the 200,000 hours of views accumulated in this first year have corresponded to users from Spain, 94%, which are completed by subscribers from 80 other countries. This path of internationalization includes the creation next May of CaixaForum Portugal, an interface completely in Portuguese with content subtitled in the same language.

The list of releases will be expanded in 2024 with titles such as Brain Hackers, where the weaknesses of our mind are revealed. Atapuerca traces the history of human beings guided by scientists like Eudald Carbonell, on a journey from homo antecessor to the challenges that the future holds for us as a species. The kingdom of the Iberian lynx traces this species' struggle to survive extinction over the past two decades. The documentary Tàpies, the joy of knowing how to look introduces us to the work of the Barcelona painter and sculptor Antoni Tàpies, the greatest exponent of abstract informalism, while in Word of Nobel you can attend interviews with several Nobel Prize winners carried out by the journalist of this Xavi Ayén house, accompanied by photographer Kim Manresa. A small sample of the new content that will expand the platform's offering, and that will include approaches to figures such as the architect Òscar Tusquets, the film director Luis García-Berlanga, the painter Torres-García or the politician and writer Jorge Semprún.
