Blanca Suárez: “Life is treating me luxuriously”

Next October 11th, I have gone viral, a crazy comedy directed by Jorge Coira, hits theaters in which Blanca Suárez (Madrid, 1988) unleashes all her comedic vision as we haven't seen in a long time. It is difficult to recognize her in Mabel, the young woman whom her husband's deception drags into a succession of misfortunes, motivated not a few by her own clumsiness. Blanca offers some advice: under no circumstances should she ever think of looking at her partner's cell phone. “I haven't done it even unintentionally because I am so clear that you should never go through other people's things... I even make an effort not to look at whoever is next to me when a WhatsApp comes in; Although there is something natural about your vision going away, I am terrified that someone will feel that I am intruding on their private sphere. “That area is non-negotiable.”

But Mabel does it aboard a plane and everything goes out of control. They record her while she loses her temper, they upload the episode to Tik Tok and the young woman becomes a viral phenomenon that will even cost her her job. When it seems that nothing can get worse, Murphy's Law shows us that there is always a lower step and Mabel makes a thoughtless (like almost everything) but also irreparable mistake during a drunken trip with her two best friends. The actress, fortunately, has never gone that far: “Epic drunkenness like that? I don't have any big episodes because I'm a pretty decent drunk. In general I have a sense of decorum and try not to make a fool of myself and I am aware of that even in deplorable conditions. I maintain my dignity and I am able to get out of myself, see myself from the outside and if things are about to slide, I take a taxi and leave (laughs).” Enric Auquer, Nicolás Furtado and Miguel Rellán will be fundamental in the development of the plot.

In reality, Blanca Suárez has little to do with her alter ego. “Like everyone else, things have happened to me, but simple things that happen to anyone. I have not seen that kind of spiral that you see that everything is going to turn out badly; In general in life I have been quite lucky. I say it with my mouth full, eh? Sometimes when things are going well, we seem to say it modestly. We all have the right to complain or feel bad depending on the circumstances and because I am not ultra-dramatic my experiences will have less importance for me. In short, I can be thankful that life is treating me wonderfully both personally and professionally.” And so it is. In the last three years she has filmed five films and has been under the orders of Carlos Montero (creator of Physics or Chemistry and Elite) in Respira, a new Netflix series. Personally, he has been with the also successful actor Javier Rey (Fariña, Las de la Última Fila, La Cima) for more than three years and financially, he is about to cancel the mortgage, as he confessed in La Resistencia (Movistar).

And even though she is a face that anyone would recognize even without watching television or going to the movies – she is the cover of high-end fashion monthly and the best advertising campaigns – she says that in her neighborhood they treat her as always: “It's true that they don't see much of me.” because normally my schedules have been a disaster for more than 15 years. But I live in the same neighborhood where I was born and I still go to the same fishmonger as when I was 5 years old. And you see that they are happy. In the neighborhood they know me and my family and have a vision of history quite different from what ultimately transcends."

Blanca Suárez has built her career through effort, improving with each film or series. She is much more than a pretty face. If you have faced the cliché, you have not been completely aware: “Naturally, I know that in some projects it has been considered that I am not the profile but I have access to other great, diverse ones, with good scripts, that tell a story and with the I'm super happy. And on the side, access to advertising campaigns and everything good that that part can offer me; It is an interesting variety. And I have not felt belittled, judged, or anything like that.”
