Biden to announce new military aid package to Ukraine

US President Joe Biden is scheduled to announce a new military aid package to Ukraine in the coming days, according to a senior US official.

The same source refused to provide details of the amount of the aid and did not specify when exactly the announcement will take place or if it will arrive during the G7 leaders' summit, which is held from yesterday Friday to Sunday in the Japanese city of Hiroshima.

According to the Politico newspaper, citing US officials, the aid package will be worth 375 million dollars and will include some of the weapons that the United States has already sent to Ukraine in the past such as artillery shells, armored vehicles and anti-tank weapons.

Along the same lines, the announcement will take place sometime after the meeting between Biden and the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, for which there is still no exact date but which will take place on the margins of the G7 summit.

So far, the United States has already sent Ukraine more than $37 billion in military aid since Russia began its invasion in February 2022.
