Barça communicates to the Federation that it will play the next campaign in Montjuïc

Barça has already informed the Spanish Football Federation that next season it will play its matches at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys so that it can let UEFA know. The Barça club had until this Friday as the deadline to report where it would play at home next season, a requirement demanded by UEFA.

This communication occurs when Barcelona is finalizing a financing agreement of 1,500 million with different investment funds to carry out the works on the Espai Barça. In fact, this Thursday afternoon a meeting of the board of directors is taking place, chaired by Joan Laporta, with this matter as the main item on the agenda.

Barça expects to close this agreement with investors this Friday to start the extensive remodeling works of the Camp Nou in the summer, a circumstance that will cause the move of its first team to Montjuïc. According to the works calendar, Barcelona would return to the Camp Nou in November 2024.

The proposal that is on the table has not changed. It is about 1,500 million euros, in various tranches, adapted to the requests of investors, since not all of them want to stay for the entire duration of the program and therefore there are different deadlines. In addition, in the first installment, the club must allocate some 200 million to repay bridge loans advanced by Goldman Sachs, the North American financial institution that pilots the operation.

Since last Monday, a senior executive from the US bank has been directing the negotiations in Barcelona and receiving explanations from the club.

A few days ago, investors, through Goldman Sachs, sent a long twenty questions to the president of Barcelona to find out how he planned to deal with the potential negative consequences of the Negreira case. Concerns that multiplied once UEFA publicly announced that it was opening an investigation into the case.
