Banners in town halls and joint manifesto: Castellón mobilizes for tile

In the presentation of the Valencian Anti-Inflation Alliance, in addition to the impact on households, the effect of the crisis on companies was pointed out. This was done by the president of the Diputación, José Martí, who in the afternoon had summoned his mayors involved to a summit from which the manifesto "Salvem la ceràmica" should come out.

Tile, the main industry in Castellón, is besieged by the price of gas and yesterday the mayors of 18 affected towns spoke about its effects to send a common message to the Government, which they will formally ask to approve "forceful" aid to the sector with the maximum possible economic endowment, "in the style of what Germany and Italy are doing with their main industrial sectors," they assured.

At the municipal summit yesterday afternoon, it was also agreed to hang banners in the town halls so that "the will of the Provincial Council and the local corporations themselves to support them is clear". As explained by the president of the Provincial Council, "we are very concerned about the situation of workers in the sector because the number of ERTE is rising and there are already factories that have closed, and as political leaders we want to show our support".

The petition to the president came jointly from the two main parties. On the one hand, the mayor of l'Alcora and provincial secretary of the PSOE, Samuel Falomir, pointed out that "what we have made clear is that the aid that has been available up to now has not solved the problem in the province of Castellón and although we want to put figures, we ask for the maximum aid, like in Italy or Germany”.

On the other hand, the mayor of Vall d'Alba and president of the PP in the province, Marta Barrachina, said that "in the Popular Party we have been with our hands out for a long time because we see that it is very necessary, it is essential that the tile sector Get as much help as possible." As she explained, "now that it seems that the way is opening, we hope that our employers obtain good results."

In addition to those mentioned, the first mayors of Vila-real, José Benlloch, attended the meeting held in the Council. Borriana, Maria Josep Safont; Almassora, Merche Galí; Moncofa, Wencesalao Alós; the Farmhouses, Esther Lara; Sant Joan de Moró, Vicent Pallarés; Cabanes, Virginia Martí; Xilxes, José Martínez; Vilafamés, Abel Ibáñez; Ribesalbes, César Pallarés, and Figueroles, Luis Gregori. Also the deputy mayor of Promoción Económica de Onda, María Baila; the councilor for Industry of Nules, César Estañol; the deputy mayor of Betxí, Salvador Rius; the deputy mayor of Llucena, Erika Escrig and the councilor of Vall d'Uixó, Jorge García.
