Badalona launches seven cars for the Urban Guard

As of today, the Badalona Urban Guard (Barcelonès Nord) has seven new police vehicles that are joining the patrol work on the city streets. Two of these cars also include the necessary equipment for the transfer of detainees.

The incorporation of these new vehicles, with the necessary badges and sound and light elements, is carried out through financial leasing (renting), with a contract awarded for an amount of 116,445 euros and a duration of four years. The chosen model is the Ford Kuga ST-Line, a compact SUV with a plug-in hybrid engine. The vehicles have a QR code on the sides and roof that, if photographed with a mobile phone, connects users by telephone to the Guàrdia Urbana switchboard.

The new vehicles at the service of the local police of Badalona were received this Friday in the Montigalà park with the presence of the mayor Xavier Garcia Albiol; the first deputy mayor and councilor for the Treasury, Finance, Internal Resources, Education, Sports and Citizen Security, Juan Fernández; the councilor of the Citizen Security Area, Juan Manuel Ruiz and the superintendent of the Badalona Urban Guard, Conrado Fernández.

Mayor Garcia Albiol has expressed his satisfaction at being able to have these new cars. "These new vehicles, the upcoming incorporation of new motorcycles and the 50% increase in the number of agents will help us improve security in the city, which is one of the main concerns that we share with the residents of Badalona," he assured. he. "We cannot yet be completely satisfied, but the latest figures on criminal acts made public by the Ministry of the Interior reflect that we are evolving better than the municipalities around us, and this is the way forward," concluded the mayor of Badalona. .
