Badalona demands the ACA to repair the water loss in the Canyet neighborhood

The daily loss of 173,000 liters of drinking water every day since 2005 in a pipe of Aigües Ter Llobregat, in the Canyet district of Badalona, has led the municipal council to issue a statement urging the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) and to the concessionaire company to mobilize all the economic and technical resources to carry out the necessary works that prevent the spill, especially given the forecast of imminent drought episodes and increase in heat episodes.

According to the consistory, this is a pending action since 2008 in the pipeline that carries drinking water from the Ter water treatment plant in Cardedeu to the Trinitat neighborhood in Barcelona and forms one of the most important distribution arteries in Catalonia.

The fact that the service cannot be interrupted to make repairs, since it would stop supplying a large part of the city of Barcelona and the metropolitan area, has led to a new parallel pipeline that is currently still under construction, in the absence of the last of the four sections that will allow the unfolding.

Faced with the passivity of the Catalan administration, the municipal groups of the Badalona City Council demand that the ACA solve the loss of water and carry out the works to unfold the canalization, as well as the necessary actions to capture the water that is now lost due to the sewerage, to be used for irrigation of parks and gardens and its connection to the network of use of municipal groundwater.
