Avishai Cohen brings Latin rhythms to the Estartit Jazz Festival

Double bass player Avishai Cohen starred in the second day of the l'Estartit Jazz Festival with his latest project, Iroko, in which he experiments with Afro-Caribbean rumba at the hands of conguero and vocalist Abraham Rodríguez jr., also present last night. The Israeli musician and composer already knew what it was like to play in the idyllic setting located in front of the Medes Islands, where he performed nine years ago.

He was accompanied by a sextet with a lot of percussion, with José Alves on the keys and Negro Hernández on drums. Along with them, the winds of Diego Urcola and the Harvard professor Yosvany Terry, without forgetting the voice of Virginia Alves, protagonists on equal terms during an evening that filled the stands of the charming venue. Previously, the sextet of saxophonist Ramon Cardo performed with his hard bop.
