Arrested for vandalizing a Commuter train in Vilafranca del Penedès

Rodalies trains have suffered more than a thousand acts of vandalism so far this year, according to Renfe data. This is the cause of much of the delays; In July, for example, 46% of the time was lost.

The last notable case occurred this Wednesday afternoon when a convoy without passengers on the R4 line was attacked in Santa Margarida i els Monjos (Alt Penedès) by three madmen who broke seats, interior doors and windows and made graffiti. The unit was unable to provide the service from Vilafranca del Penedès, which affected travelers on the section to Castellbisbal (Vallès Occidental) and caused delays of a quarter of an hour. The hooligans were arrested by the Mossos, who came after being informed by the company, at the same station and were taken to the police station.

According to police sources, the Catalan police received a notice from Renfe at 5:45 p.m. alerting them that several minors had caused damage inside the train.

The railway operator has assured that the young people were inside the empty train, which was traveling to Vilafranca, where its journey was to begin. Once in Vilafranca, and after detecting that they had entered irregularly and had caused damage, they managed to get them off the train and alerted the Mossos.

Renfe accuses them of having caused multiple damages inside the convoy, such as breaking several windows and a seat.
