Antella declares three days of mourning for the brutal murder of a woman by her partner

The Antella City Council (Valencia) has decreed three days of mourning and three rallies to condemn the sexist murder that occurred this Sunday in the town, where a man killed his wife in front of their 12-year-old son and then committed suicide. Three rallies have also been called with a minute of silence during those days, at 7:00 p.m., as explained by the City Council.

During this Monday, the mayoress of Antella, Eugenia García, holds a meeting with Social Services and psychologists to coordinate care for the victim's children. The minor, 12 years old, was the one who attended the father's attack on his mother, whom he ended up stabbing to death and then committing suicide. The couple had two other children who were not present at the time of the attack.

The events occurred early Sunday afternoon, when a 53-year-old Spanish national, Vicente. F.Q., allegedly killed his wife, Ilham, a 38-year-old Moroccan, in the family home in the Valencian town of Antella, in front of her son. Subsequently, the alleged perpetrator of the events cut his throat, according to the Civil Guard.

The Generalitat Valenciana has accepted that the youngest son of the murdered woman stay with a family of neighbors who have volunteered to take care of the 12-year-old boy, but it is a temporary solution because they are looking for an extended family with whom find at ease

The Government Delegation against Gender Violence has confirmed this murder as gender violence. The victim was in the process of separating from his partner, with whom he had two sons and a daughter who were minors. There were no previous complaints of gender violence against the alleged aggressor.

"We are in a lot of pain, it is a very strong case because he was a very loved person and we are all in a lot of pain," said the mayoress of Antella, who has promised to "help the family in whatever it takes." In addition, she has highlighted that the minor already receives help from local residents.

As he explained to Europa Press Television, he went to the house around 3:30 p.m. this Sunday, after receiving notice of the alleged murder. The minor and a 27-year-old relative were in the house, although he has remarked that he cannot confirm if the boy witnessed the events.

Regarding the situation of the victim, the first mayor has indicated that she was in the town for five years, after which she changed cities and had now returned. As for the alleged perpetrator of the crime, she has remarked that she did not know him "at all" and that she had "never" seen him. "There was no (prior) complaint, there was nothing," she said.

The mayoress has assured that the man did not reside with the woman in the house where the events took place, a house where "the mother and the 12-year-old boy lived" and where the 27-year-old relative had gone "to spend a few days ". "The girl does not understand Spanish and we are helping her with whatever is necessary," she guaranteed, while "the child is with the neighbors."

This femicide brings to a total of 28 the number of women murdered by their partners or ex-partners this year in Spain and to 1,212 since 2003, when they began to be counted.
