An unrevealed virus, France's small headache a few days before the grand finale

The French soccer team adds a new drop due to fever just three days before the final. The coach Didier Deschamps has confirmed this Wednesday, after the match with Morocco, that striker Kingsley Coman has a fever and that he suffers from the same symptoms as his teammates Rabiot and Upamecano, who could not play in the semifinal against Morocco. Although it has not been revealed what type of disease they suffer from, Deschamps himself downplayed the infection.

There is no official information from the French Football Federation since it does not issue medical statements, so the official causes of the casualties are unknown. The French coach explained at a press conference that despite the drop in temperatures in Doha, the air conditioners have continued to be on, so that could be the cause. However, he did confirm that it was a contagious virus: "We are taking all the necessary precautions, we are trying to make sure it does not spread, but viruses are infectious."

Some media claim that the infection suffered by the three soccer players could be the so-called "camel virus" (MERS-Cov). It would be a type of coronavirus that spreads from animals to humans, and was first detected in 2012 in Saudi Arabia. At the moment there is nothing confirmed about it.

Rabiot and Upamecano have already missed the semi-final against Morocco due to the virus, although according to the French coach they should be available for Sunday's final. Now it is Coman who has been infected and could again cause loss in the final against Argentina as it already happened in Wednesday's game.
