An arrestee in Tarragona for human trafficking to exploit them for work in France

The Mossos d'Esquadra of Tarragona, in collaboration with the Lyon police, have arrested a man for trafficking people and exploiting them for work in France.

The person investigated would have used the excuse of offering paid work to immigrants in need to profit from their work, commit fraud against the French treasury and launder the profits he obtained.

Following a European Investigation Order from the Lyon Court of Justice, the Mossos located the suspect at an address in Montbrió del Camp and discovered that he ran an establishment in Cambrils.

On September 27, these properties were searched and the man was arrested. French authorities have requested his extradition.

The investigation of the Mossos was carried out in collaboration with agents of the Zonal Directorate of Air and Border Police-Mobile Research Brigade of Lyon and the GIR (Interministerial Research Group of Lyon).

The case began following a mandate issued by the investigating court number 3 of Reus, derived from a European Investigation Order of the Court of Justice of Lyon aimed at locating a person who was fleeing from French justice and who could reside in the Camp de Tarragona area.

Police efforts made it possible to locate the man at the address where he lived in Montbrió del Camp and determined that he ran a commercial establishment in Cambrils.

The detainee was brought to justice before the investigative court number 3 of Reus on the 28th and the Court of Justice of Lyon issued an order for arrest, surrender or extradition for crimes against persons, property, economic and financial and immigration facilitation. irregular.

The approximate equivalent to the Spanish Penal Code of these crimes would be human trafficking for the purposes of labor exploitation.
