An 83-year-old man of Spanish nationality has drowned on Riells beach, in the municipality of L'Escala, Civil Protection reported this Saturday.
The event took place yesterday afternoon at a time when the surveillance and lifeguard service was active on the beach and when the green flag was waving, underlines Civil Protection.
The emergency services were alerted at 6:17 p.m. by a witness who said he was seeing an unconscious man being pulled out of the water.
The lifeguard services carried out the first resuscitation actions, which continued to be carried out by the troops of two units of the Medical Emergency System (SEM) that moved to the area, work that was unsuccessful.
The Mossos and the Civil Guard also moved to the area of the event, a body that took charge of the proceedings of the case.
