Alcaraz enters the quarterfinals of Buenos Aires showing solvency

Carlos Alcaraz, number 2 in the world, qualified early this Friday for the quarterfinals of the Argentina Open after beating local tennis player Camilo Ugo Carabelli 6-2 and 7-5. Given the circumstance that the Argentine was the defending champion, while the Spaniard is the first seed in the tournament.

Alcaraz easily got rid of his rival in the first set, although, without pressure, Ugo Carabelli managed to put the Murcian in trouble when he seemed headed for an easy victory by taking the match to 5-5 and threatening a tie-break. However, Alcaraz then exhibited his best shots to finish off the match.

The world number 2's rival in the next round will be the Italian Andrea Vavassori, who gave the first surprise of the day by beating the Serbian Laslo Djere, seventh seed, 6-4 and 7-5.
