Albert Cubero, guitarist for nine years of Serrat, dies

Albert Cubero accompanied Joan Manuel Serrat in his concerts during the 1980s. He was part of his trajectory and now the world that saw him grow says goodbye. Yesterday, Monday, the guitarist died of cancer and this Tuesday his family and friends will say goodbye to him, as reported by Diario de Huesca.

The Catalan chose Cubero in his team aware that he had learned from the best. Phil Lee, John Abercombrie or Steve Brown are just some of the names that Cubero had nurtured.

He worked hand in hand with Serrat for nine years and participated in five of his albums: Fa 20 anys que tinc 20 anys (1984), En direct (1984), El Sur Also Exists (1985), Blessed (1987) and Utopia (1992).

Before his professional period with the singer-songwriter, Cubero was part of the jazz band Ònix and in the 90s he released a couple of albums of this musical style. All this led him in his career to step on legendary stages, the Lincoln Center or the Town Hall in New York, and participate in festivals such as San Remo or the International Jazz Festival in Lisbon.

The last years of his life were lived in peace in Huesca, a city to which he retired and where he has died.
