Albera Lliure de Molins appeals for the prior authorization of the Galatea wind farm

The Albera Libre de Molins platform (ALLIMO) has presented an appeal against the prior authorization of the Galatea de la Jonquera wind farm, in Alt Empord (Girona). The appeal has been admitted and now the Climate Action Secretariat must decide whether to consider it or not.

However, the entity already warns that if they reject it, they will go to court by filing a contentious administrative appeal.

Opponents of the project allege that there are many irregularities, which they already denounced in the allegations, and "serious deficiencies" in the project that, in their opinion, will affect the cultural, natural and landscape heritage.

The entity has also published an open letter to the Secretary of Climate Action, Anna Barnada, to the Director General of Energy, Assumpta Farran; to the general director of Environmental Policies, Marc Vilahur, and to the director of the Landscape Observatory, Pere Sala. In the letter, they assure that the processing of the wind farm has been "very incorrect", given that there have been several modifications that would force them to "start the project again."

"The sole obligation of every public organization is to defend the part of the common good that corresponds to its name, such as water, the environment, cultural heritage, climate change, the Alt Empordà and the landscape. But the organizations that must protect them, in this case, they have not done so from the beginning or to the end and therefore all these common goods will be seriously harmed by the construction of the Galatea PE," they say in the letter.

In August, the General Directorate of Energy of the Generalitat granted prior administrative authorization to the Galatea wind farm.

The infrastructure, which also affects the areas of Cantallops, Agullana, Capmany, Biure, Pont de Molins, Llers, Figueres and Vilafant due to the evacuation line, will have a power of 48.94 megawatts and nine wind turbines.

The project already had the approval of the Generalitat in the environmental impact declaration (DIA). Its promoters, in fact, expect it to be operational at the end of 2025.
