Agri-food and crude oil boost merchandise traffic in the port of Tarragona

The port of Tarragona has increased merchandise traffic by 9.9% in 2023 to 33 million tons. It is the infrastructure that is growing the most among the top ten in the State.

Agri-food products and crude oil have recorded historical records and have allowed this momentum.

As the president of the Port Authority of Tarragona, Saül Garreta, explained this Thursday, the challenge for the coming years is to increase the movements of general cargo goods, which currently represent 6% of the total, well below the 63% which represent liquids or 31% of solids.

At an economic level, the infrastructure has closed 2023 with more than 64 million euros in revenue and a record in the EBITDA balance, which has reached 34.9 million euros.
