ACS continues to improve results thanks to the construction business in the United States and the greater contribution from Abertis, which it has just reinforced by handing over the management of a large highway in Houston.

In the first nine months of the year, the construction group earned 576 million euros, 19.9% more than in the same period of the previous year, and continues to expand its portfolio, which is at record levels.

Revenues until September amounted to 26,395 million euros, 7.6% more, while gross operating profit (ebida) increased 12.8%, up to 1,425 million.

Of the main business figures, the only one that deteriorated was the debt, which increased by 302 million euros, up to 590 million, mainly due to the German subsidiary Hochtief.

Abertis contributed 153 million euros to the group's profit, 35% more, thanks above all to the increase in road traffic, which already exceeds pre-pandemic levels in most of the countries in which it operates.

In recent months, the concessions company has acquired four new highways in Puerto Rico and, above all, has come to control 57% of SH 288 in Houston, valued at 1,532 million dollars. ACS transferred it to them as part of the agreements with the other partner in the concessions group, Mundys, the former Atlantia.

Apart from Abertis, ACS has the other major source of profits in construction. Until September, it contributed 309 million euros, 21.5% more, thanks above all to Hochtief's growing activity in the United States.

Revenue from the construction business stood at 24,638 million euros, 7.4% more, and is mainly focused on North America, which contributes 66% of the total.

ACS's project portfolio is now 74,909 million euros, 6.4% more than a year before. So far this year, the volume of awards has reached 34,747 million euros, and of this amount almost 40% comes from the United States.
