The Miranda de Ebro Court of Investigation (Burgos) has decreed the release of a man who was arrested last Monday for allegedly beating and chaining a woman in his home. Agents from the Miranda de Ebro National Police Station arrested him after the Santiago Apóstol Hospital in Miranda de Ebro was alerted that a middle-aged woman had appeared at the hospital, who had injuries to her face and She was tied with a chain from her hands to her neck.

The victim's first statements pointed to the authorship by a man who had offered to do her the favor of taking her from the Hospital, where the woman was in the care of a friend, to the center of the town of Miranda in her vehicle.

Once he had gained the victim's trust and with the excuse of collecting some belongings from his home, the victim agreed to accompany him inside the house. At this point, he began punching the victim in the face who lost consciousness. After regaining consciousness, the victim found a rope at the height of her neck and the alleged perpetrator trying to suffocate her, while she continued hitting her in the face and insulting her.

To prevent any defense on the part of the victim, the detainee added to the first tie a chain with which he tied the hands at one end and the neck at the other.

According to the victim's statements to the agents, at a time when he was left without the aggressor's surveillance, he took the opportunity to flee the house. He first took refuge in the house of relatives who took him to the Miranda de Ebro Hospital from where he alerted the police services and they proceeded to provide him with medical care.

The Family and Women Unit of the Miranda National Police Station has taken charge of the case, a group in charge of investigating crimes related to the abuse of women and crimes of a sexual nature, who, based on the statements collected from both The victim, as well as the first intervening agents, proceeded to identify the alleged perpetrator of the incident and alerted the rest of the police units with a view to his arrest.

Once arrested and placed at the disposal of the Miranda Court of Investigation, his release was ordered.
