A trainee civil guard rescues a drifting kitesurfer in Almuñécar

A trainee Civil Guard agent has rescued this Wednesday a man who practiced 'kitesurfing' and was adrift just over half a mile from the coast of Almuñécar (Granada) without the possibility of approaching the beach and being dragged towards a very rocky area due to the strong waves that were at that time.

The rescue occurred after 3:30 p.m. when the agent Miguel V.F.S, stationed at the Motril post, who was patrolling Almuñécar at that time, received a notice of the dangerous situation in which a kitesurfer was on the beach from Puerta del Mar in the town of Sexitana, as reported to Efe by the Civil Guard.

Once the patrol arrived at the scene and saw that the athlete, who was just over half a kilometer from the shore, was in serious danger as he was swept away by the wind and the strong storm that was in the area towards the Rock del Santo, a very rocky area, and after noticing that the injured person was signaling for help, he decided to jump into the water, despite the danger that could be caused to his integrity by the waves.

When he got to the point, he realized that it had serious stability problems, so he had to drag it to the shore where it arrived in good condition. After this intervention, the agent was applauded by dozens of people who closely followed the rescue.
