The woman, of Brazilian origin with Spanish citizenship, and her husband, also Spanish, were on vacation taking a motorcycle tour, diplomatic sources confirmed.

The attack occurred in the Dumka district of Jharkhand, more than 1,200 kilometers from New Delhi, near the border with Bangladesh.

According to the authorities, the woman and her husband had set up a tent in the Dumka district, a remote area in the state of Jharkhand, to spend the night on Friday, when a group of men attacked them while they were sleeping. .

The husband has claimed that his wife has been raped by seven men while they were threatened with death inside their tent.

"They attacked us in the store, they beat us, they put a knife to my throat saying they were going to kill us, and seven men raped her," confirmed the man, also Spanish, in a video recording from the hospital where they receive treatment. The recording has been removed from their social networks at the direction of the police.

His partner, who accompanies him in the recording, with blows all over his face, has indicated that they have also been robbed by the men who assaulted her, although he assures: "we had very little, their real motive was to rape me."

The Indian police have confirmed the arrest of three people involved. Based on the description made by the attacked couple, "we have arrested some people (...) and we will arrest the rest of the accused as well... The Spanish embassy in India has contacted the authorities and has sent consular personnel to the region.

About five years ago, the couple began a journey to go around the world on a motorcycle, which they are posting about on social media. The victim has more than 190,000 followers on Instagram. According to details from several sources consulted by EFE, the couple traveled from Spain to make a trip from Pakistan, then to Bangladesh, India and finally Nepal.
