A rally driver dies when his vehicle plunges down a 50-meter ravine in Ávila

A rally driver has lost his life this Saturday and his co-driver has been transferred to a hospital after his vehicle plunged down a ravine of about 50 meters while they were carrying out a test at kilometer 15 of the AV-503, at the height of the Avila town of El Herradón.

The events occurred around 3:16 p.m., at which time the operations room of the Castilla y León 1-1-2 Emergency Center received a call from the preventive agent established in the rally test that reported the exit from the road of a vehicle participating in the test.

As indicated by the whistleblower, the vehicle had fallen down a ravine about 50 meters and two people were injured, the co-pilot and the pilot, who was trapped inside the vehicle.

With these data, the 1-1-2 operations room has notified the Civil Guard of Traffic and COS of Ávila, the Emergency Coordination Center, the Ávila Fire Department and Health Emergencies - Sacyl, which has sent a medicalized helicopter and basic life support ambulance. In addition, members of civil protection have also come to the area.

At the scene, the Sacyl personnel have confirmed the death of the pilot, while the co-pilot has finally been transferred to a hospital by the preventative of the event.
