A young 16-year-old tourist of foreign nationality remains admitted this Monday to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Ganada Traumatology Hospital in serious condition after being injured by falling branches from a tree in the gardens of the Alhambra, on the Cuesta Gomérez, due to the strong gusts of wind recorded this past Sunday in the capital of Granada.

The minor, who according to initial information could be of Polish nationality, suffers multiple injuries after being hit by the branches, as health sources have informed Europa Press. Two other people, also tourists, were injured although they did not require hospitalization.

The Alhambra activated the wind protocol last Sunday, cutting off access through Cuesta del Rey Chico and Gomérez forest. The Board of Trustees of the Alhambra and Generalife is closely monitoring the evolution of the young tourist, wishing her a speedy recovery and making all necessary means available to her.

The mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, reported this Monday that the city is beginning to return to normal after the strong wind recorded throughout the night, which forced the closure of parks, sealing trees and fixing containers; and this morning the work focuses on cleaning up leaves and tree branches that have fallen during the night. The councilor regretted the accident that this young tourist suffered and wished her a speedy recovery.
