The 71-year-old man killed in Figueres (Girona) this Tuesday around 8 p.m. by local police officers was threatening family members with a 12-gauge shotgun, sources close to the investigation have explained to Europa Press.
The man showed up at his relatives' home with a firearm, and police officers went to the scene after being alerted by a neighbor that he had fired shots at the façade of a building in the l'Aigüeta neighborhood of the city.

The man opened fire on the officers and, after an exchange of shots on Indiquetes Street, he was injured and later died at the Figueres Hospital.
The same sources have detailed that no family member or agent has been injured, and that "it is ruled out that there is gender violence" behind the event.
