A man is rescued by helicopter after jumping into the river to save his dog

The intense rains that are hitting much of the United States are causing serious damage. A man had to be rescued by emergency services when he tried to get his dog out of the river. The forcefulness with which the water flowed in the torrent meant that the dog's owner could not return to a safe area.

After being rescued by a Los Angeles Firefighters helicopter, the man was taken to a safe area and then transferred to a hospital. The dog was able to swim to safety.

This river is an example of the intensity of the rains that are occurring in this North American area. Normally, the stream flows with very low current and these days it carries with it generous cubic hectometers of water. So much so that the authorities have assigned several lifeguards to patrol the course of the river and put the swift water rescue teams on alert.
