A jury finds the three 'Bocanegra' guilty of the fatal shooting in the Torrent cemetery

A popular jury has found the three people belonging to the 'Bocanegra' clan guilty of murder, accused of shooting two men dead in the Torrent cemetery (Valencia) and wounding a third on All Saints' Day 2021. , as sources familiar with the decision have confirmed to Europa Press. During the hearing, the accused denied the facts and assured that they were not there that day.

The accused, a couple and one of their children, sat in the dock this week at the Valencia Court before a popular jury. The Prosecutor's Office attributes to the three accused, in its provisional qualification document, two crimes of completed murder, one crime of attempted murder and one crime of illicit possession of weapons.

For this reason, the public prosecutor's office is demanding a sentence of 51 and a half years in prison for the couple's son, the perpetrator of the shooting; while requesting 45 and a half years in prison for the parents, as well as the payment of various compensations.

For their part, the defendants' defense claims acquittal for their clients, alleging that they were not in the cemetery on the day of the events and did not fire shots either. After the jury verdicts guilty, the court will set the sentence.

The events date back to All Saints' Day 2021 when there was a shooting in the Torrent cemetery with two people dead, one of them from the 'Marco' clan, and another injured. As a result, three people were arrested, a couple and their son from the 'Bocanegra' clan. The arrests took place four months after the events since they had fled.

The prosecutor maintains that there had been certain conflicts between the 'Bocanegra' and the 'Marco' before the shooting and that day both families met in the cemetery and began to yell and threaten each other. Then they started hitting each other with chairs and sticks. At one point, the 61-year-old defendant took out a gun that she was hiding in her clothes and gave it to her son to shoot at the other family.

Thus, the son - according to the prosecutor - began shooting in the cemetery at people who had no possibility of protecting themselves. The shots hit three men and two of them died instantly. One had no relationship with the families. The third victim, son of one of the deceased from the clan, was injured in the leg and suffered injuries that took 15 days to heal. The defendants denied this story.
