A gang of bodybuilders who trafficked anabolics in stores and gyms arrested

The National Police has arrested 33 alleged members of an organization made up of people linked to bodybuilding dedicated to the trafficking of anabolic medications, which they imported from Portugal and Bulgaria and distributed in gyms and nutrition stores in various places in Spain and abroad.

The arrests and the eight entries and searches have been carried out in various parts of Mallorca, Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona, Malaga, Granada, Segovia, Murcia and Alicante, the General Directorate of the Police reported this Thursday.

The investigation began after the Bulgarian authorities warned the agents that the shipment of anabolics destined for Spain through a parcel company had been detected, most of them directed to the Valencian Community.

From this information they obtained indications that there was a group of people who had acquired more than 600 kilograms of anabolic products in just over a month and a half, coming from both Bulgaria and Portugal.

Based in Valencia, the gang had branches in Madrid, Castilla y León, Andalusia, Murcia and Catalonia, where mainly people related to the world of bodybuilding redistributed the medications on their own platform, as well as in gyms and establishments specialized in nutrition.

The Valencian group maintained frequent contact with two people based in Palma de Mallorca, who were also being investigated for allegedly manufacturing illegal anabolics in a clandestine laboratory, from where they distributed them using the name of a pharmaceutical company.

Asked about this, representatives of the company in question expressed their suspicions about the possibility that some of the medications they marketed were being falsified with high-quality replicas, for which specific materials and machines were necessary.

Once the location of the clandestine laboratory was identified - which they dismantled - an operation was carried out to arrest the two people responsible, after which the rest of the arrests were carried out simultaneously in different parts of the country.

The agents seized more than two million doses of already manufactured anabolics and the active ingredient to produce another three million, a gun ready to fire, cash, narcotics and three high-end vehicles.
