The fire of a large pile of scrap metal on a site dedicated to the recycling of this type of material has forced traffic to be cut off, in both directions, on the C-35 highway as it passes through Granollers (Barcelona).
The Catalan Traffic Service has informed that the cut affects, from 2:29 p.m. this Saturday, the section between kilometers 31 and 31.5 of the aforementioned road.
The Generalitat Firefighters, who have been notified of this fire around half past one in the afternoon, are working in the twelve crew area.
The fire is difficult to put out due to the characteristics of the material and the large amount of scrap metal affected, so it is most likely that the troops will control the perimeter of the area and let the pile of waste burn until the fire can be attacked. .
The fire broke out in a pile of scrap metal accumulated outdoors in an area located on the Via Interpolar highway in Granollers, isolated and close to a river. The City Council has also reported that the center of Palou has been confined as a precaution.
