A drunk driver causes a multiple accident on the AP-9 for driving in the opposite direction

The Civil Guard has arrested the driver of a vehicle that caused several collisions on the AP-9 near Vilaboa (Pontevedra), when it was driving at km 147 in the direction of Vigo and in the opposite direction through one of the entrances to the highway, and that he gave a positive result in the breathalyzer test.

According to sources from the Pontevedra Command and CIAE 112 Galicia, the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. this Sunday, when a 59-year-old driver, a resident of Domaio (Moaña), entered the highway and Realizing that he had made a mistake, he turned around and drove a section in the opposite direction. When doing this maneuver, he ended up colliding head-on with another car and, later, caused another collision with three other vehicles involved.

The 112 Galicia has reported that 11 people, including drivers and travelers, were involved in the accidents although, according to the 061, only two needed medical assistance at the scene, due to minor injuries, and their evacuation was not necessary to any hospital.

In addition to the personnel of Sanitary Emergencies 061, agents of the Traffic Civil Guard went to the place, who carried out the breathalyzer test on the driver who caused the collisions. The test yielded a positive result that quadrupled the maximum allowed. Due to these facts, the driver was arrested for an alleged crime against security, for reckless driving, injuries due to serious recklessness and damages.

The man was transferred to the Civil Guard premises and, while there, he began to report chest pains, for which he was transferred to a medical center, where he was diagnosed with a rib fissure. The driver was admitted, guarded by the Civil Guard as a detainee.

Of the 11 people involved in two accidents, only one required on-site medical assistance for minor injuries. As explained by the agents of the Civil Guard of Traffic through 112 Galicia, the driver who was driving in the opposite direction first collided with a vehicle and, immediately, with three others.

The incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, as recorded in the records of emergency calls to 112 Galicia. Indeed, there were several people who used this service to communicate what had happened, and reiterate that there was a driver driving in the opposite direction.

With this information, the collaboration of the Health Emergencies professionals and security agents was requested, in order to verify the data provided by the whistleblowers. In this way, it was confirmed that there were two successive accidents, caused by the same vehicle, and that, in total, there were eleven people involved, who were unharmed, except for one who was treated at the point without requiring hospital evacuation. .
