A dog has died hanging in Girona after jumping from a balcony to try to escape the strong heat from which it had been dying for days. The animal was tied up in the sun without a shadow before dying in its attempt to get out of there.
According to various neighbors, the owners had gone on vacation, leaving the pet at home. The police explain that they had asked an acquaintance to take care of him and to leave him tied up for fear that he would jump, as he eventually ended up doing.
The neighbors had been listening to the dog cry and bark for days, a fact that caused some to make a call to the police to warn of the situation. However, as it is a private home, entering the property was not considered.
The city of Girona, like the rest of the country, is experiencing the most intense heat wave of the summer, with temperatures of up to 40 degrees in the Catalan city. At the moment, the Municipal Police have denounced the owner for a crime of animal abuse.
