A man died this Wednesday after stones fell on him when he was more than 10 meters from the 'Waiting for the Morphine Patch' road, in Àger (Lleida).
The Fire Department of the Generalitat explained in a statement that at 12:46 a.m. they were notified that the climber was injured and activated their rescue helicopter, the Special Operations Group (Grae), a ground team and a doctor from the System of Medical Emergencies (SEM).
Upon reaching the point where the victim and another climber who was with him were, the helicopter brought the rescue personnel closer and the doctor certified death.
The Mossos d'Esquadra have activated their Mountain Intervention Unit (UIM) and have been in charge of the reports and the removal of the body while the Bombers have brought the other climber closer to the town.
The SEM has also deployed a rescue helicopter, a ground unit and a team of psychologists.
