A bull had to be sacrificed on Ontinyent last Saturday after being badly injured when it fell from a height of 15 meters, which caused it to break both legs. The vets tried to find a solution, but in the end they decided to kill him. The bull was participating in an activity known as Bou de les Penyes. It was going down a street at great speed and in a turn the animal went directly to the boardwalk of the riverbed, jumped over it and rushed.
The incident coincides with the first year that the route of the bridge has been followed again after several years diverted due to restoration works. After the dramatic fall of the bull, the remainder of the bullfighting afternoon has been suspended.
