A bad practice in an agricultural burning is the main hypothesis of the origin of the forest fire declared yesterday in the municipality of the Castellón town of Villanueva de Viver and that has already affected some 1,800 hectares, as reported by the regional Secretary of Security and Emergencies of the Generalitat Valenciana, José María Ángel.

This morning a reconnaissance flight was carried out in the area affected by the fire, whose evolution "has not been negative tonight" but could be complicated today by the high temperatures, which are already reaching 20 degrees in the area, and by the wind from the west, "complex and complicated", as it can reach gusts of up to 40 kilometers per hour, Ángel has pointed out.

Ángel have also indicated that the weather forecasts for today "are not allied" or "hopeful" and "make extinction very difficult", to which must be added a "very complicated" orography since it is an area of ravines and large slopes.

Efforts, he has indicated, will focus on the municipalities of Montán and Montanejos, which are already evicted, to prevent the flames from reaching this area and that it can jump and go through the Sierra de Espadán.

According to José María Ángel, there are already slightly more than 1,800 hectares affected by the footprint of this forest fire, according to initial estimates by the technicians.

The regional secretary for Security and Emergencies has also reported that some 1,500 people have been evacuated, 106 of them relocated to the Segorbe and Onda sports centers and the rest to relatives' homes or second homes.

Regarding the extinguishing means deployed in the area, 18 aerial means have been activated and 400 people work on the ground.
