A futsal player from Sabadell died this Monday after suffering a severe blow to the head in his team's match, CFS El Ático de Sabadell, against Sports Sala Santa Perpetua last weekend. Specifically, the events occurred on December 3, when the young man suffered an accidental impact with another player from the opposing team.
The Catalan entity has reported the death of Raúl, 19, through a statement shared on social networks. The Sabadell City Council has also published a message of condolence and has declared a day of mourning. Several entities have joined in the pain of the club and the family of the deceased, including the Catalan Football Federation.
"Despite the quick action of the public and the medical services, nothing could be done to reverse the situation and Raúl left us this Monday," reads the text, which finally expresses the club's condolences. "Player, teammate, brother, son, friend, fighter on and off the court. Your emptiness is incalculable, your delivery is an inspiration. Your memory will last forever linked to the shield that you defended until the end."
