Zverev - Alcaraz, Australian Open match: schedule and where to watch on TV

Carlos Alcaraz faces, this Wednesday, against the German Alexander Zverev, in the quarterfinal match of the Australian Open. It is the third time that the tennis player from Murcia participates in this Grand Slam, and the first time he has reached this far in the tournament. In order to advance to the semi-finals he will have to overcome the current world number 6, with whom he has already faced seven times.

Of course, in the fight they maintain, the one from Hamburg wins, who has defeated him four times, compared to the three that the current number two has defeated. His most recent clash was in 2023 in the group stage of the ATP Finals in Turin, where Zverev won 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-4.

The winner of this match will face the winner of the confrontation between the Russian Daniil Medvedev and the Polish Hubert Hurkacz in the semifinals. This match will take place on Wednesday, not before 03:30 in Spain.

The two players arrive at this new clash in a different way, as the Palmar native went over the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic, whom he defeated with 6-4, 6-4 and 6-0 in 1 hour and 49 minutes, and the Hamburger suffered much more against the British Cameron Norrie, whom he ended up winning in the super tie break of the fifth set by 10-3 and reaching that tiebreaker after 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 and 4-6. That meeting lasted 4 hours and 5 minutes.

"I'm going to try to make sure that doesn't happen. Here he (Novak Djokovic) has won many times and is at a top level. We have to work and take our little step to be in the semifinals. Hopefully we can take the title. I'm not surprised he says That's because of how many times he has won. We will see," commented Alcaraz, in the press conference that was held after qualifying for the quarterfinals. “I feel very confident. There are very good players in the quarterfinals. On the other side are Djokovic and Sinner, who are at a great level," he added.

The third round match of the Australian Open between Zverev and Alcaraz will be played on Wednesday, January 24, starting at 10:30 Spanish time. The match can be seen on television on Eurosport and can also be followed live through the La Vanguardia website.
