Vinícius declares for Mestalla's racist insults

Real Madrid footballer Vinícius Jr. testified this morning by videoconference from the Plaza de Castilla courts before Investigation 10 of Valencia, which is investigating the racist insults that were uttered at the Mestalla stadium on May 21.

Vinícius, who was wearing a white shirt, dark pants and sneakers, entered the courtroom calmly and without making any statements to the media present there. He didn't do it either, about an hour later, at the exit despite the insistence of the journalists.

It is expected that this statement will conclude the first proceedings ordered by the court in the framework of this case, in which three young people between 18 and 21 years old, whose access to Mestalla is banned for life, are listed as being investigated.

This statement had been postponed up to two times, since it was initially set for June 27 and was postponed to September 28 because the footballer was on vacation abroad. The second postponement responded solely to organizational reasons of the courts, since it was not requested by either the player or any of the parties.

During the League match between Valencia and Real Madrid at Mestalla on May 21, Vinicius Jr reported having suffered racist insults from some fans who were behind the goal and this event stopped the match for several minutes. The events were initially reported by LaLiga as a possible hate crime.

The same player pointed out from the grass to one of the fans, and the other two were identified by the National Police through the recordings of the security cameras that Valencia C.F. put at your disposal.

These three fans - aged between 18 and 23 - already testified before the judge and admitted making gestures from the stands, but denied any racist motivation in their behavior.
