Espanyol announced this Wednesday the signing of central defender Víctor Ruiz, who was free after ending his contract with Betis, until June 30, 2024. The 34-year-old Catalan footballer will be presented this Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Stage Front Stadium after having passed the usual medical check-up without any problems.
Víctor Ruiz trained in the lower categories of the parakeet entity. He was in the first team in the 2009-10 season offering a notable performance and left Espanyol for Naples in the 2010-11 season.
Subsequently, he played for Valencia, Villarreal, Turkish side Besiktas and Betis, where he has played for the last three seasons. In the last campaign, he played 14 games in all competitions.
The arrival of Víctor Ruiz to Espanyol underpins one of the least effective positions in the squad. Until now, the coach, Luis García, only had three natural centre-backs (Leandro Cabrera, Sergi Gómez and Fernando Calero).
