The federation disqualifies Randri for the Alhama case

The Royal Spanish Football Federation has made official the two-year disqualification for the coach of Alhama CF of the First FutFem Federation, Juan Antonio 'Randri' García.

The sanction is not only directed at the perpetrator of the events, the club's technical director and Randri's wife, Tamara Ruiz García, is accused of "passivity in the face of the coach's inappropriate behavior and participation in inconsiderate actions towards the players." Therefore, she will be sanctioned with one year of disqualification from activities in the soccer sports organization.

Despite the fact that on July 5 of this year, the Social Security Labor Inspection, ITSS, stated that coach Randri García had “inappropriate behavior” that affected “the dignity of the majority of the players” of Alhama And that this behavior translated into “a hostile environment" in the locker room, according to ITSS reports. The coach was not disqualified and to this day he continued to exercise the role of coach of the club.

"As a result of having learned that the coach of the Alhama Club de Fútbol women's first team engaged in conduct that violated the most basic labor rights of the first team players, as we announced in April 2023, we have not stopped working with the sole objective of being able to eradicate this type of behavior and keep them away from women's football," highlights the statement this Thursday from Futpro, the sports union, mainly for women's football and the one that has brought together all the complaints from the different organizations.

The statement they released last November accused Randri of "vexatious and degrading behavior towards the majority of the players, affecting their dignity and creating a hostile work environment, and of repeated behavior in indiscriminate actions towards the players."

In mid-November, the statements of some victims of these treatments also came to light, who spoke to the newspaper El País. “At 22 years old I left football. The Alhama thing destroyed me. I lasted two months there and left. I didn't explain to anyone why, I was ashamed to tell it and say: they defeated me," says one of the players.

The player added that "I felt bad, I told myself: it's my fault, I must have exaggerated, I'm shit, I'm not good for this. I never thought that a person could influence me so much. But it was one comment after another, it made you doubt and feel that you were not worth it. It breaks your career, all your illusions. It diminishes you as a person and as a professional and, in the end, it kills you. He is a person who scares you, tells you four things and you are screwed."

As far as the club is concerned, due to the "lack of preventive and reactive actions against the persistent behavior of the coach", it will be financially sanctioned with a fine of 6,001 euros.

"At FUTPRO we will continue to work tirelessly to guarantee a safe and respectful sporting environment for all players. We will always go to the last resort to protect them," concludes the union's statement.
