The Bulgarian tennis player, Grigor Dimitrov, is in the news, not because of a sporting triumph, as would be usual, but because he was the victim of a robbery in Barcelona. Dimitrov, who is in the Catalan capital to participate in the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Conde de Godó Tournament, was robbed on public roads to steal a high-end watch, an experience that other elite athletes have already gone through and many tourists, unfortunately.

According to the digital El Caso and corroborated by La Vanguardia, the events occurred on Friday night on Avenida de Sarriá. The Bulgarian tennis player was returning from training when a motorcycle approached him and closed the rear view mirror of his vehicle. The moment Dimitrov reached out to open the mirror again, the thieves tore off his watch, a piece valued at 70,000 euros.

The tennis player remained calm and continued on his way. Contrary to what the Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel did in his day, who went after the thieves. Shortly after, Dimitrov appeared at a Mossos police station to report what had happened.

At the moment the identity of the assailants is unknown and the watch has not been recovered.

The Catalan police suspect that Neapolitan professional thieves could have traveled to the city to perpetrate this type of robbery, taking advantage of the tourist turnout that a sporting event such as the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Conde de Godó Tournament takes place from April 15 to 23. .
