Nadal will not be able to play in Rome either

The Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, out due to injury since last January, has announced that he will not play the Masters 1000 in Rome that will begin next week, although he did acknowledge having experienced an improvement in recent weeks.

The tennis player from the Balearic Islands, who suffers a psoas injury in his left leg, has not played since he felt the injury at the last Australian Open. Since then he has forfeited every tournament he originally planned. He was not in the Conde de Godó Trophy, nor was he in the Madrid Masters. He now he too has to renounce Rome.

The Spaniard intends to go to Roland Garros to defend the title achieved last year, the fourteenth and the twenty-second Grand slam.

In a statement posted on his social networks, Nadal explains that after so many times without competing he needs more time to readapt:

"Hello everyone!

I am very sorry to announce that I will not be able to be in Rome. You all know how much it hurts me to miss another one of the tournaments that have marked my professional and personal career for all the love and support of the Italian tifosi.

Despite having noticed an improvement in recent days, there have been many months without having been able to train at a high level and the readaptation process has its times and I have no choice but to accept them and continue working.

Hugs to all."
