The player from Sevilla and the Argentine team Gonzalo Montiel has received notification of his charge for a crime of sexual abuse after declaring yesterday in Argentina, where he voluntarily appeared to tell his version of what happened on January 1 of last year 2019, at his family home located in Virrey del Pino, Buenos Aires, and for which a woman has denounced him.
During his presentation of the facts, Montiel acknowledged knowing the alleged victim and having had "consensual sexual relations" with her months before. He invited the woman to the party and there he introduced her to several of the attendees. According to his account, the soccer player left the place to take two friends to their respective houses, but when he returned to the party it was over and everyone was on the street.
“My mother and my friends began to tell me that C. was screaming angrily and saying that it was all my fault because I hadn't taken care of her. I did not understand what she was referring to, ”she recalled. "They told me that Alexis had taken her to her house and that before they had been in my dad's car that was parked inside the house," she added before confessing that she did not know this Alexis.
According to Montiel's version, the figure of Acosta Alexis is transcendental in the case, since it would be the identity of the alleged rapist. Although the complainant's lawyer, Hermida Leyenda, maintains that her client "does not know him." "What's more, for us it doesn't exist," she adds. So far neither Alexis nor the third man who allegedly committed the criminal acts have been identified.
For her part, the complainant reported that she appeared on January 1, 2019 at the home of Gonzalo Montiel's family to celebrate the player's birthday. According to her statement, there were about 25 people at the aforementioned party, including the player's mother, Marisa. There, she said, she was sexually abused.
Her first complaint was made on January 10, 2019. In it, the young woman presented the studies that were carried out in a medical center, in which sexual violence would be verified. It was then that the investigation was opened at UFI 3 in La Matanza. On March 31, 2023, the young woman confirmed her complaint, expanded her statement, and mentioned Montiel as the last person she saw before fainting after "having two drinks."
The young woman stated that when she woke up after fainting she found herself "lying at the entrance to the house (of the Montiel family) with bruises, covered in mud, with all her clothes out of place and with Gonzalo's sister yelling at me 'don't mess with my brother, don't name it, because I'm going to kill you'”. After that, the young woman declared that she was put in a car that took her to her house and that she later exchanged messages with Montiel, who would have told her that she had had relations with a young man named Alexis.
