Formula 1 Bahrain GP: schedule and where to watch the F1 classification and race on TV

The 2024 Formula 1 season begins this weekend with the Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sakhir track. This will be the first of the 24 races that make up the longest world championship in history, and in which we must add the 6 sprint races it contains. Of course, it should be noted that this championship starts in an anomalous way, since the race will be held on Saturday and not Sunday due to Ramadan.

Although Fernando Alonso wants to get on the podium again this season, after seeing the performance of Max Verstappen's RB20 in the pre-season tests, he was forceful about how this championship will develop: "This year, there are fewer possibilities for everyone to win a race this season. But that's how it is."

"Max is the world champion and Red Bull is dominating F-1. The concept they have presented this year is also a surprise," added the two-time world champion. For his part, Carlos Sainz, the driver who marked the best time of the preseason, stressed that he was not surprised by Red Bull's superiority. "They will start with an advantage and are the favorites. I hope we have a car that allows us to fight Red Bull, also in the race,” he highlighted.

The Sakhir circuit debuted in 2004. It is a peculiar layout, since the race starts during the day and ends almost at night, so the drivers wear specific visors for grand prix like this.

It has 5,412km and the drivers will have to complete 57 laps. It consists of 3 DRS zones and has few of the 15 fast corners. In fact, the cars travel 26% of the circuit in slow corners and 14% in medium ones. Only 4% are fast. The remaining 56% are straight.
