F1: Australian GP | Schedule and where to see the classification and race

After a weekend without races, Formula 1 returns with the third event of the season. This weekend the Australian Grand Prix takes place at the Albert Park street circuit in the city of Melbourne. The 2023 winner on this track was the Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull), a victory that can be repeated considering that so far this year he has not yet stepped off the top step of the podium.

Unlike the first two meetings in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, with modified schedules due to Ramadan, this time qualifying will take place on Saturday the 23rd at 6 a.m. and the race on Sunday, March 24 at 5 a.m. ).

Albert Park is a circuit of just over 5.3 km, with 14 corners (6 on the left and 8 on the right) and which debuted in 1996. Previously, the F1 tests in Australia had been held on the street circuit from Adelaide.

That Red Bull is the strongest team in recent times is nothing new. The first two places in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, held on March 8, were occupied by the unbeatable Max Verstappen and Checo Pérez. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) crossed the finish line in third place, followed by the Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren / Mercedes).

Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) placed fifth, while Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) missed the race due to appendicitis. He had to undergo emergency surgery and was replaced by Oliver Bearman, a Formula 2 reserve driver for the same Italian team.
