Curry scores 60 points, but Warriors fall in Atlanta

Stephen Curry scored 60 points in his Golden State Warriors' defeat this Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks (141-134) in overtime. The point guard was one step away from surpassing his personal scoring record, which he set with 62 points on January 3, 2021 in a game against the Portland Trail Brazers. The Warriors won that game 137-122.

This Saturday was his second best score. Curry made 22 of 38 field goals (57.9%), including 10 of 23 three-pointers (43.5%) and 6 of 6 free throws. In addition to the 60 points, he captured 6 rebounds, gave 4 assists and made a block.

Curry's numbers were not enough for the Warriors to beat Atlanta, who tied the game at 123 with 4 seconds left in the fourth quarter to take the game to overtime. Curry precisely missed the shot that would have prevented overtime on the last possession.

In overtime, Atlanta won with a run of 18-11. The best of the Hawks was Trae Young with 35 points and 6 assists. Additionally, Jalen Johnson (21 points and 13 rebounds), Clint Capela (17 points and 15 rebounds) and Onyeka Okongwu (22 points and 16 rebounds) recorded double-doubles.

For the Warriors, Curry's best partner was the Dominican Lester Quiñones, who posted his best numbers in the NBA with 17 points and 5 rebounds in 22 minutes and 42 seconds.

Doc Rivers won his first game with the Milwaukee Bucks this Saturday, 117-129 against the Dallas Mavericks, thanks to the 48 points scored by Giannis Antetokounmpo. The coach had lost his two previous games on the bench of the Bucks (33-16), who arrived in Dallas needing a victory against the Mavericks (26-23) loaded with important losses such as Kyrie Irving and Dereck Lively II.

Jason Kidd's players had a 25-point lead at the beginning of the second quarter, but the Bucks turned it around and enjoyed a 15-point lead shortly after the game ended. The partial between these two maximum differences was a devastating 65 to 105. In that collapse the Mavericks accused the constant turnovers, 21 compared to the Bucks' 11, as well as the lack of success that they had left over in the first quarter.

Antetokounmpo led the visitors with a double-double of 48 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. He was accompanied with 30 points and 8 assists by Damian Lillard, who had just lost on Wednesday against his former team, the Portland Trail Blazers.

For the Mavericks, the best was Luka Doncic, who was on the verge of a triple-double with 40 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists. With their victory in Dallas, the Bucks remain in second position in the Eastern Conference, while the Mavericks are eighth in the West, in play-in positions.
