All the details of Barça's contract with CUPRA

On October 21, FC Barcelona approved the budget for the 2023-24 season with expected revenues of 859 million euros and a profit of 11 million. At this point in the year, it is 30 million below what was expected and this is, in part, due to the decrease in ticketing for the games in Montjuïc. Also because the board projected that the men's first team would add 15 points in the group stage of the Champions League and in the end there were 12, so 2.8 million euros have been lost.

“But we will redirect the situation because new income in sponsorships will arrive,” say club sources. Last year, Barça signed more than 20 new contracts and in this year the entity has linked up with five more brands, including Ambilight. The list amounts to 37 official sponsors, 32 of them dedicated to professional sports. In addition, more and more people are choosing to sponsor not only the men's or women's team but also the professional sections of the club.

This is the case of the Cupra automobile brand, which has renewed its relationship for five more years, until June 2029. The well-known car brand landed at the Camp Nou in 2019 and, to date, has been the official car of the male and female templates. Sources from the entity explain that Barcelona has earned seven million euros per season in the last five years and that now, with this new contract that also covers the basketball, indoor soccer, handball and roller hockey sections, the profit will increase.

To reinforce the international impact of this alliance, the Cupra logo will also be present on the right sleeve of the men's and women's football team's shirts during the summer tours which, as confirmed yesterday by president Joan Laporta, will once again be held in USA. Cupra will also appear on the sleeve of the shirts in international friendly matches for the next three seasons and will become the main partner of the international academies. According to Laporta, when the current relationship with Cupra expires in five years “Barça will have the best stadium in the world. We will also have the new Palau Blaugrana, where Euroleague finals can be played.”

To achieve this, the president hopes that La Masia continues producing footballers of the caliber of Lamine Yamal or Pau Cubarsí. “There is a working method that is very good and necessary for the club to be viable and sustainable. The successes of this club have come when it has opted for the people at home,” he added. And to comply with the budget, the club's new economic policy advocates a 27 percent reduction in the salary bill of professional teams.

The club hopes to compensate with another commercial partner the 40 million euros that Libero did not pay for Barça Vision and, of course, that Xavi's team beats Naples in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 in Montjuïc and reaches the Champions League quarterfinals.
