Storm Irene will continue to leave rain and strong winds this Thursday, up to 80 kilometers per hour, a forecast that has led the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) to activate warnings (yellow and orange) in up to 13 autonomous communities.

Unlike the previous day, with rainfall that affected almost the entire country, this Thursday the rains will fall especially in Galicia, the Cantabrian area and the Atlantic side of the peninsula. They will be weaker and more dispersed early in the morning and will intensify in the afternoon.

These rains will not reach the Mediterranean coast or the Balearic archipelago, although cloudy intervals are expected, while some precipitation will also be recorded in the Canary Islands.

They will blow from the southwest at dawn in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with strong intervals in areas of the eastern half and northwest third of the Peninsula and in the Balearic Islands. Throughout the day they will tend to ease up, turning northeast in Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea. They will be more moderate and of variable direction in the extreme northeast of the peninsula and the Canary Islands.

Although the winds will decrease throughout the day, the agency has activated the yellow warning for this reason in up to ten autonomous communities: Andalusia, Aragón, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Castilla - La Mancha, Region of Murcia, Country Basque, La Rioja and Valencian Community. In Extremadura; It is activated by rain; in Catalonia and Galicia, due to coastal phenomena.

This Thursday a change in temperatures will begin to be noticed, with a downward trend, which will be accentuated from Friday, when the decline will be pronounced, according to the Aemet forecast, which also announces the arrival of a new storm. .

The snow level will drop to 800 meters in the north of the peninsula, to 1,000 in the central zone and to 2,000 in the south, with frost in the northern mountains, especially the Pyrenean area.
