The powerful anticyclone, which has been affecting a good part of Western Europe for a few days now, will continue to leave a situation of blockage and stable weather in Spain, with little rain and snowfall, fog banks and frost until next Wednesday, when the entry is expected. of precipitation in the north and interior of the peninsula, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
In addition to the lack of rain, another effect of a persistent blocking anticyclone is the formation of fog banks in low areas. These fogs, according to the agency's spokesperson, Rubén del Campo, are capable of persisting throughout the day.
For this Monday, abundant low morning cloudiness is expected, which could lead to the formation of fog in Galicia, the Cantabrian coast, depressions in the northeast, more isolated in the Tagus, Guadiana, coasts of Catalonia and areas of the southeast and, more widespread and persistent, in the northern plateau and La Mancha, where fogs are expected to be denser.
Salamanca, Palencia, Segovia, Valladolid and Zamora will be at risk due to fog that will reduce visibility to around one hundred meters and that may become locally freezing. In some areas of Cantabria and Castilla-La Mancha, the yellow warning has been activated due to low temperatures, due to records of up to 6 degrees below zero.
In the rest of the country, maximum temperatures will increase in the northeast of the peninsula, which will be more pronounced in the upper Ebro and Girona, decreasing in the center of the Northern plateau, with few changes or a slight decrease in the rest.
The minimums will decrease in La Mancha and western Andalusia. In addition, there will be frosts in the Pyrenees and they will be weak in surrounding areas, the Meseta, southern Iberia and the southeastern mountains. They could also occur in isolation in other mountain and inland areas of the northern half and eastern third of the peninsula.
The stable weather will last until Tuesday, although the anticyclone will gradually weaken, allowing at the end of the day the entry of an Atlantic front through the northwest of the peninsula, increasing cloudiness and leaving rainfall in the north of Galicia and Asturias, with lower probability in the rest of the northwest and Cantabrian Sea.
On Wednesday and Thursday, some Atlantic fronts could brush against the north of the peninsula, leaving cloudy skies and precipitation in the extreme north of the peninsula, which in the Pyrenees will also be in the form of snow. The most abundant rainfall would occur, above all, in the Eastern Cantabrian Sea, northern Navarra and the Aragonese Pyrenees.
Frost will continue to be recorded in the north and east of the territory and the mildest environment will continue in the Mediterranean where, once again, temperatures will be around or exceed 20 degrees. This stable weather, in general, is likely to continue until next weekend, coinciding with the start of the Christmas holidays.
